The annexation of Texas as the twenty-eighth member of the United States of America had a profound impact on world events and the course of democracy in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This exhibition narrates the story of Texas as a Mexican colony and Republic, its campaign to join the United States, the vote for annexation, and the consequences of that vote. “Annexation: Celebrating Texas Statehood” invites audiences to become more familiar with one of the defining moments of Texas and U.S. history. The free exhibit will be on display at Livingston Municipal Library Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

"Drop Everything and Read" (D.E.A.R.)is referenced in Beverly Cleary's Ramona Quimby, Age 8. Since then, “Drop Everything and Read” programs have been held nationwide on April 12th in honor of Mrs. Cleary’s birthday. The aim of this nationwide initiative is to encourage families to designate a special time to "drop everything and read". So, on April 12th, we encourage families young and old to join Livingston Municipal Library for a morning of snacks, books, giveaways, and reading together.
