Reading Rocks with Socks & Fox

Julian Franklin presents “Reading Rocks” (with Socks and Fox). “This show has more magic tricks than any other show I do..... it is so informative that kids from PK through 6th grade love the show.” Be ready for laughs and tricks with “Reading Rocks”.

Edge of Imagination Station (Part 1)

During this two-day workshop participants will use The Edge of Imagination Station while working with Johnny Villarreal to create a unique music video. The first part of the workshop will be used to create cardboard props and pieces and plan out the shoot. During the second half students will use the library as the backdrop as we bring the props and the library itself to LIFE using stop motion animation and rotoscope techniques. Rotoscoping is an animation technique where artists trace over footage frame by frame to produce realistic action. Get ready for a hands-on experience of the frame by frame kind! Kids will work on the video from 1pm - 5pm on the 10th and 11am - 3pm on the 11th. Registration for this program will begin on June 21st. Chevron Earth Science on Wheels : Know Your Rocks (HMNS)

The Houston Museum of Natural Science will introduce students to rock classification and the rock cycle, using hands-on, interactive activities to reinforce concepts learned. Visit with one of the museum’s docents and explore the fascinating characteristics of the most important building blocks of Earth’s crust.
